benefit of using SUM for patching ABAP stack

Does anyone see a benefit using SUM for patching ABAP stack? Namely I did it for a stack of 10 Support packages ant it took ages...

All the checks, clonning tables from original to the shadow system..

Please write only if you have got experience to do it with SUM

thank you in advance

    Hello Jan

There are different execution modes in SUM.

You should use the "Single" mode if it is a small scale patching.

The patching strategy with the help of a shadow system is good if there is a need to reduce the downtime of the system.

Please read this SAP note to understand how it works.
