APD Data Export

Hi, Basically the requirement is to extract exchange rates data fields from TCURR table into csv file with following condition: 1. Use APD solution only. 2. Only Types A and Z 3. Rates must have only 5 decimal places 4. Only few fields to be extracted. My doubts are: for point 2 - Should I use filter function or something else? for point 3 - I can use abap routine function for point 4 - If I use database table function then I will not have fields to select option tab. so should I first move data from table as datasource first and then dso as datasource(here I get tab for field selection to select fields I need) please correct me if I am wrong? Importantly can I use TCURR table as datasource directly in APD?If yes what will be the technical name of TCURR table I should use? Please suggest? Regards Syed

You can use tcurr and create a datasource in bw in rso2 which allows you to load tcurr into a DSO for example and in that transformation you build all your logic. (steps 3-5) then use the dso as source in your apd to write your csv and done.

    hope that helps

    Hi Syed,

if it is a regularly scheduled load, you could write an ABAP report using the OPEN DATASET command to write a file onto the app server (link). As the requirement is an export of selected columns based on certain filtering criteria, all of that can be handled within the SELECT statement used to read the DB table.

I would avoid using APD and BW stuff because it adds too many unnecessary layers into the solution. But if an APD is mandated by the customer for some reason, then create a table-based DataSource, pull the whole TCURR into a DSO as-is without applying filters or field selections. Then do the filtering (point 2) and field selections (point 4) in the query used as source for APD. Decimal places (point 3) can be achieved via ABAP as you point out.

You may go for open hub destination. Create datasource based on tcurr, use transformation between open hub destination and datasource to transform data in required format, DTP to filter data.

    Hope it will help you!
