Any compatible devices list?

Hi experts,

We are trying to find if some of one of our customer's factory machines can be connected to SAP MII.

Is there any "Compatible devices list" or something like this? I mean a list of all scales models that can be connected, and other devices

I have been doing research here but cannot find any.

Thanks!!

    Hi Arthur,

When you want a specific list of machines and scales it is a simple question to ask but not so simple to answer!!

Let me list out a few which I know of my little experience.

    1. Scales - Metler Toledo scales with Kepware as preferred OPC Comm company, please refer the link - Mettler Toledo Continuous Mode Serial OPC Server - KEPServerEX OPC Server

These scales and their associated drivers support both Serial & Ethernet connection for OPC data transfer. FYI.

    2. Machines - Here is the tricky part!!

Siemens provides a lot of PLCs & CNC machines (Eg., S7 family) to which you can connect with Siemens Ethernet communication protocol

Allen Bradley systems, GE, Honey well, Toshiba vendors provide a majority of their devices supporting OPC communications. Their forums and tech support options can help you much precisely.

The best way for you to approach your client requirement will be to categorize the available machines list by vendors & machine/PLC type.

Then you have to contact the respective control system vendors and experts for a clear listing on compatible ones and on those to be upgraded!!

    3. SCADA systems - GE iFix, Siemens WinCC, Wonderware are used in process industry for automation and are completely OPC compatible with their own OPC servers availed in the SCADA package.

I hope this info helps refine your search for MII based Shop floor integration, best of luck.

    With regards,

    Ponilango

    Hi Arthur,

MII can connect to different types of devices through various connectors.

e.g. IDBC connector can connect to all JDBC/ODBC compliant devices and there could numerous such devices and historians.

Check the different connectors of MII:

Connectors - SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence - SAP Library

Also MII can connect to various devices through Plant Connectivity(PCo) using PCoConnector of MII.

Check the different type of devices PCo can connect to here:

SAP Library - SAP Plant Connectivity

Also MII has Message Services functionality where MII can listen to http messages send from other devices and applications.

Message Services - SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence - SAP Library

    Regards,

    Rohit Negi.
