Hi all,
we are trying to connect SAP Data Service to SAP BW (via TCP/IP RFC connection).
Below are the versions of system that we have:
SAP BW: 7.30
SAP Data Services: 4.2
I have tried the steps (provided by the SAP Data Services gurus) on the connection part.
however, i have failed on the connection test in SAP BW.
Below are the error message that i've got from the connection test:
Logon | Connection Error |

it seems like i have missed a step in registering the program ID in SAP data services server.
do you know what's the steps required to register a program ID in SAP Data Services?
thanks in advance.

Hi All,
i have managed to fix the issue with the RFC connection (SAP Data Services & SAP BW).
all i did was to ensure that in the SAP Data Services VM Server, the "service" file has the "SAPGW00" registered as a gateway.

Hi Willie,
When you have created the RFC on DS side it will get started automatically.
Check the error at DS side and try to start the RFC on DS side.
also telnet the hostname with the port
telnet mgs6db1.internal.mgc.com.au 3300

Hi,
Please check the below note..
353597 - Registering RFC server programs
When did the issue start or this is the first time you are configuring it.
Thanks

Hi Rishi,
This is the first time i am configuring it.
i have tried to log into the Server and register the program ID, but somehow it wasnt able to find the command "rfcexec".
Could you please advise me on where can i find the command "rfcexec" in the server?
or am i using the wrong command here?

Have you checked the below note.
The 720 versions of the kernel do not contain the program rfcexec (UNIX and IBM i) or rfcexec.exe (Windows) any longer. As this might break some application scenarios, by following the steps described above for UNIX or Windows, the old versions of these programs are kept (for IBM i these steps are ignored). For various reasons, it is highly recommended - and for IBM i it is mandatory - to move to a new version of these files, contained in the NW RFC SDK 720. Please refer to SAP Notes 1581595 and 1025361for detailed instructions and further information.
