ASCS z/os Installation problem switch_user:setuid failed: 12332

Dear Colleagues,

We have a problem when trying to install a new ASCS Netweaver 7.3 on z/os. The installation script failes with

sapinst.log

Error: Unix command setuid 14962 gets following error

RETVAL = -1

ERRNO = 9D

ERRNOJR = B8802AF

dev_saphostexec

Error => switch_user: setuid failed: 12332

Error => Switch to user 'sapadm' failed [HostControlW 198]

In my understanding the saproot is not able to switch to sapadm and this cause the issue. Any idea what my z/os colleagues have to set?

Hi Alexander,

please see section :
2.3.2.2 "User ID saproot to Install SAP components and to run the SAP Host Agent on z/OS"

of the "Security Guide for SAP on IBM DB2 for z/OS"

which describes the required RACF settings for user 'saproot'.

Does 'saproot' have READ access to BPX.DAEMON.HFSCTL ?

The specified function is not supported in an address space where a load was done that is not program controlled.

z/OS system log should contain more details.
