Ghosts of SDN post past

Hello fellow SDNers,

We all have seen people posting the same question twice within a few minutes/hours/days(may be) to get more eyeballs on their issues.

But today in my moderation queue i see a duplicate thread posted after 4.5 long years

This one is from July'09 - & this one is today's -

Dare i say, paranormal(or abnormal) activity

BR,

Suhas

PS - If someone is wondering the rational behind the subject line, please check http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0821640/. Boring movie that!

Maybe he just forgot to tattoo the answer back in 2009 (Memento-style)?

For an Indian context, I would say Ghajini (2008 film) style.

Really can't believe this

4 years passed and he is stuck with the same old issue.

He might want to think from every possible angles for finding the solution and might be still waiting for a best solution to come.

He strongly believes in SAP Best Practices.

Hi Dear,

Its really like the film Ghajini..

the difference is that, in this film Amir khan forgot everything between 15 min.

Here the user forgot his memory after 4.5 years.

And surprisingly He is still working in SAP....

Sometimes its happens...

so you mean to say..

OP must take snap for remembering each SDN post.

and before posting new one he checks snap book for existing one if found not to post else post.

No... Not as snap shot...

he must search about the issue before creating a new discussion.

If he search in SCN before create the new discussion, he must found his old discussion..

Especially if it's so easy to just look at the own content and filter for the authored content. But you're right, of the OP search, he/she would have stumpled over the old thread and therefor the new one was not necessary.

Regards,

Steffi.

Exactly - Google before you post any new questions on SCN. Actually sometimes I find my own replies from years back that I've already forgotten about. How nice of me to help myself!

I know what you mean, Jelena. Sometimes I Google some stuff and find exactly one relatable source on SCN --> 🙂 --> Open it just to see Author: Lukas Weigelt, closed unanswered or with unsatisfactory answer --> ;_;

bah... 😕

checked few posts from same. Seems any issue in SAP is placed on SDN. Very Proactive

I read the questions again, and I have to say, they are logically different.

Old case: Split "100% COTTON TWILL72X66/20/2X10" to "100% COTTON TWILL" and "72X66/20/2X10".

New case: Split "108x58/18x18 100% Cotton 3/1 S Twill" to "108x58/18x18" and "100% Cotton 3/1 S Twill".

The "correct answer" of old case finds first "/", and finds 2 consecutive occurrences of alphabets just before, and marks it as point of separation. (2 alphabets are searched because "X" of 72X66 need not be considered, it is part of dimension)

Same logic does not apply to new case.

STRREV and old logic can solve the issue, but then 4.5 years ago, OP's system may not be capable of running STRREV.

Both questions lack the least bit of understanding for programming basics, i.e. regular expressions in his case, after 4.5 years and mainly say "do my job pretty please". ./Major Facepalm

"Dear Expertise"

For Christ sake.. Instantly made me think of the simpsons quote "Dear Die Hard. You rock. Especially when that guy was on the roof. P.S: Do you know Mad Max?".

Most of all concerning this wonderfully bizarre situation, I wonder what he's been doing the past 4.5 years. Trying to find the answer for the ever so mysterious split command? Viciously lying in ambush to hit the best possible point of time to ask the same question again? Or maybe it's a case of acute amnesia?

Time travel (real or imaginary) is the best possible explanation here.

I am ruling out the possibility of SCN machine purposefully created this duplicate post, because the titles are not exactly same. "Split material description" vs "Split the Material Description". There is an extra "the".

Maybe older question was to split any material description, and new question is for a specific material description because of the "the".

This material is significant, because the word is capitalized. (Material).

I think it is because of slight miscalculation in time travel.

In a movie named 12 Monkeys, James Cole was sent to past to obtain a pure sample of virus.

He arrives in 1990 instead of 1996.

Cole arrives in Baltimore in 1990, not 1996 as planned

The scientists then send Cole back in time again, successfully transporting him to 1996.

I also have found and reported threads, that were the same like ones created in the past. If something sounds strange, I just look in the content-tab of the user asking and voila. ^^

Me-too. Superlike!

PS - Pun is definitely intended. No likes were intended during the posting of this comment!

Yes, but in this particular case there is 4.5 years and 6 pages on the authored content tab inbetween!

I certainly wouldn't have detected this duplicate.

Yeah, well. That IS an accomplishment. ^^ But most of the time, this is easier, because the normal "offenders" have either a lot less content or do this in a shorter timespan.

This Happened because of Spoon feeding.

In July'09 - Split material description person was hungry and someone gave him food, what he want but didn't told him how to make it. Now again he want same kind of food just some change in spices.

But the same question, the same text & the same person. Gotto be some serious coincidence

But some one found it...that is what is amazing. It means the OP was looking for answer via google May be or may be not

That's quite spooky. I wonder how this was detected in the first place. My guess is that (as usual) somebody took over OPs task and searched for existing answers, stumbling upon that same question this way.

The best reply is the one by asking for the exact logical rule behind the text split (e.g. always at the first space?), everything else is just speculation in the hopes of being rewarded (also as usual).

Hi Thomas

Actually i overlooked it.. My intention was to understand what is the exact logic he wants..

No offence..

Thanks
