Alternate Account does not exist in chart of accounts

Hello Everyone,

We are trying to make a posting to one particular company code and everytime we try making a posting, we are stopped by the error "Account XXXXXXX doesn not exist in the chart of accounts". Please note that the account number being mentioned here is an Alternate Account (Statutory Account) for one of the GLs being used in the posting. This account has been already set up in the Country Chart of Accounts.

We were able to resolve this error when we assigned the Country Chart of Accounts to the given company code in OB62.

What surprises us is, this error is being reflected only when we try making a posting for December 2013. Till November 2013, we were able to make the posting without this assignment in OB62. In fact even in January 2014, we are able to make the posting without this assignment but only for the month of December.

We checked the change logs and dont find any assignment in OB62 that was done prior to now, also there is no change in the Master Data. The postings however were happening in the given GL and the given Alternate Account.

We are unable to find out the reason for this strange behaviour. Request you to please provide your valuable inputs on this.

    Hello,

Check change log of GL Master. Alternative account assigned in GL Master.

I though that there was no alternative account till Nov. But since December there is alternative account or wrong account assigned by user. Check FS00 change log

    Regards

    Hi Soni,

If you were able to post in Nov. and Dec without errors it's because there was no assignment for Country CoA in OB62. Please check in BSEG table, field BSEG-LOKKT, for those documents posted in Nov. and Dec. that you say you had no error. If that field is populated with the alternative account, then it means your postings were correct (and had to be a previous assignment in OB62). If you have that field empty for your documents then your postings were not made to alternative account and you got no error because not CCoA was assigned in OB62.

    Best Regards!

    Hello Soni,

Requesting you to please check the change logs of OB62 and GL account in FS00.

I assume that there is no assignment of alternatiive COA/ Country COA in november month and in december user has assigned the same wrongly in OB62.

    I hope it help!

    Thanks & Regards,

    Lakshmi S

    Hello Everyone,

To answer your questions on change logs:

    1. FS00: The GL Account has been created long back with the given Alternate account, there has been no change.

    2. OB62: The company code was created in April last year and was working fine till December. We checked the change log but there is no assignment to the country chart of accounts priorly.

Please note that without making the assignment, we are able to do posting in January as well. Its just December that is having problem.
