Hi everyone,

i have installed SAP BI 4.1 beside  BO XI 3.1. Now I would like to run the Upgrade Management Tool to import all universes, webi document, instances etc. The problem is that I cannot find a sufficient guideline how to do so. As I am a beginner in regards of Linux I am facing some challenges. That is why I am asking you guys for your support.

- What do I have to consider? E.g. Java Installation and how to do it in a proper way

- How do I run the UMT?

Thanks for you help.

Cheers, Bhagat

The upgrade management tool is available as a GUI interface for Windows and as a command line interface for Unix/Linux

please refer the below SAP notes

1640894 - How to: Linux/Unix Upgrade Management Tool command line

1904814 - Best practices for a successful migration to BI4 using the upgrade management tool

Please refeer the below document also.

Hmm ok...

That means a client tool will also be installed on my Windows machine which would be usable and is better as it also allows somehow a troubleshoot. Currently the new devices with Windows 7 are not available (probably next week).

In the meantime I would try to run complete migration through the command line as described. Thanks for the input.

I will keep you in loop if it works.

Keep in mind- If you have a large system, consider upgrading incrementally, instead of full upgrade.
