Need info 012 and 002 OM relationships

Hi Guru's,

   I have a question which relating to OM relationships, my question is if i use 012 realtionship for the position/orgunit, how about other positons in that particular orgunit,what i mean is will that other positions autometically reports to the chief position by using whether 002 or 012.

2. what is the diffrence between using position to positon relationship for reporting purpose and maintaing 012 relationship for the objects.

could you please clarify on this...

Answering your 2nd Question:

The purpose of maintaining either 002 / 012 is to default certain values in Info types and to get the respective reports.

A position belongs to an Org.Unit

A position is described by its Job

By maintaining above two you can default the values in Infotype-0001, It is all about maintaining data as simple as that.

There are two different approaches, you can use either as per your convenience / decision.

   obvisouly incase of cheif postion when position 2,3,4 is reporting to 1 position relationship must be 002 , what iam thinking is that between 2,3,4 postions dont need relationship 002.because all position reporting to 1 position. so that 002 relation is between 1 and (2,3,4).

Hi Ashok,

It is okay. As I told earlier you can go without maintaining 002 relationship.

What you are doing is you are not maintaining direct reporting hence in future you can't get the same in Reports those run based on 002 relationship like below.

This is a simple logic to understand,

• If you maintain A/B 002 (Reports to / Line supervisor of) between two Positions, it means you are defining the Reporting Structure between position to position.

• When it comes to maintaining a Chief Position to an Org. Unit makes that position inherit the Reporting structure by considering the Org.Unit to Positions relations.

Let us say:

O (Org.unit) consists 1,2,3,4,5 Positions and now you are making 1 as chief for O, that means as position 1 is the Chief for entire O and 2,3,4,5 positions also belongs to O  => There for 2,3,4,5 indirectly reports to 1.

Thanks alot for your valuble inputs on this, in my current project previously it position to position relationship for reporting what we wanted to do is like changing it to 012 relationship make its cheif position. making it cheift thats fine, now my question is do i need to maintain 002 relationship for the cheif position to other postions with in org. units.

lets say

You can do that (without maintaining 002 relationship). As shown in below picture (1st) .

But the matter is what is the purpose of this requirement ?
