How to map new depreciation calculation method ?

Hi ALL,

Please  guide me how to map new depreciation calculation method in existing SAP FI AA module.

As per revised method we have to charge depreciation as per below steps-

1.Each asset to be depreciated up to 90% of its original cost.

2.When depreciation reaches 70% of cost of asset on the basis of depreciation Rates defined for each asset class, system should calculate the balance amount to be depreciated (i.e. 20%) and apportion the same over the balance useful life of that asset.

3.Once depreciation reached at 90% of Cost of asset, No depreciation should be calculate further.

4. In existing method depreciation is calculated upto 90% of original cost of asset at rates specified to each asset class.

Please Guide on the same.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Manjusha,

You can assign 0.3 in changeover % in phase 1 among other configs like your base method, period control, multi level etc.

It will calculate depreciation upto 70% then it will changeover to next phase i.e phase 2.

Create phase 2 as per the base method, multilevel, period control etc for what depreciation % you want in this phase

Enter 0.1 in the changeover % field in phase 2.

It will calculate depreciation upto 90%.

Then Create phase 2 again as per the base method, multilevel, period control etc for what depreciation % (In your case zero depreciation) you want in this phase.

Hope it solves.

Hello manjusha,

For a depreciation key, please try using the Base values method 27 (i suppose) this calculates the depreciation on the NBV. The deprecation is calculated only upto 90% if you maintain Residual value in asset master (Calculation haooends on 90%).

Let us know if my understanding is correct and whether if this  works.
