SAP Hana Cloud Portal and self registration

Former Member

Hi experts,

I would like to know how I can manage to have a self-registration form/link/whatever in my sap hana cloud portal linked with an on-premise backend ?

I'm aware of all the stuff regarding the sap hana cloud connector and I've already successfully consumed an on-premise odata service through it.

Where do I have to configure something ? Do I have to use a specific version of the hana cloud connector ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards.

Hello,

I just sent an e-mail to all the sap contacts listed in this thread.

Thank you.

Hi Ifat and Amit,

Thanks for your quick replies about the development and the on-premise access. I think I can manage that part since I've already done some exercices regarding this point.

My main concern is about the registration process : I want an anonymous user to register on my portal, but I also want this registration "linked" to an on-premise backend.

While looking for informations I landed on this page several times : SAP ID Service Administration Console

How can I access this administration console ? I have a trial account, does this prevent me from accessing it ? Am I on the right track or should I look elsewhere ?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Loic,

The SAP ID Service Administration Console is used for administrating trust settings between your account and the SAP ID service.

I am not sure it is related to the scenario you described.

You can access it from the trust settings on your account page cockpit, once you create a custom SP.

There are two scenarios which I think you refer to (let me know if I am off the mark here):

  1. Registering users to your backend:
What you need is to create a public page on your Cloud Portal site which exposes a registration application that connects to your backend.
If your backend requires authentication, your application should use a destination file with basic authentication settings (default user credentials for authenticating).
See this document for more information on creating and uploading destination files:
    SAP HANA Cloud Platform

  2. Registering new users on SAP ID:
This should be used when you want to automatically add new users to SAP ID, so they need to pass the registration process of SAP ID.
For that, you must contact SAP ID administrators so they can provide you with the trust parameters to their registration API.
you can start with the contact persons:
    1. Maltsev, Maxim (external - Service) <maxim.maltsev@sap.com>
    2. Ivanova, Polina <polina.ivanova@sap.com>

Hi Loic,

Would be great if we can setup a short call to discuss your scenario in more details.

We can then provide you alternatives how to proceed.

You can contact me directly by email: ifat.shwartz@sap.com

Hi Loic,

You can create your own HANA Cloud platform application on your own account which connects to your backend and retrieves the required data.

Once created, you can create a HANA Cloud Portal widget based on it (an open-social widget) and consume it inside your HANA Cloud Portal site.

You should use the released SAP Cloud Connector version, which is available under SAP Development Tools for Eclipse

An advanced option would be to use the Gateway service as well in order to create your application with SAP UI5 libraries based on the data you retrieve from your backend.

See more information about it at SAP HANA Cloud Platform
