Thanks for reply...i am not looking that how to create custom web ui component, but some case/schenario which you faced in some of your project which was not supported by standard component and you created custom for that ?

If you may share any such Functional specification on my id that may be great help

Hi Rohit,

If i understood right u want to know why we create any web UI component or view (Custom) and use it in standard or anywhere.

am here want to tell u 2 cases in which we use custom web UI component.

1) we integrate our campaign with third party software to send email in bulks.the third party system send that email to all customer and keep all their data(how many email gone, how many successful,how many open,how many not open etc). this data we get back from that third party and show in our custom web UI component corresponding that particular campaign.

2) In this we integrate our campaign with facebook and post any data from campaign to Facebook.

and all data from Facebook we display in our custom web UI component in campaign overview page like comments on post, how many likes on comment and all other data.

i think it will help you if u want to understand the requirement of custom web UI component.

Thanks for reply....this is really helpful...but as per the above requirement it looks rare case and not often , i feel we normally do not get opportunity to create custom component and most of the time we just enhance the standard one only.

If you may share some more cases of Web UI Enhancement by adding Custom Assignment Blocks on any overview page, Custom View which u used as popup etc will be a greate help

or some more custom development cases.

Hi Rohit,

Yes it is not narmal to create new component and used with standard because SAP provide required basic functionality, untill and unless client require some extra than it we dont need ro create.

But we normaly create ( or also use standard) component for POPUP etc.

Like adding popup to give language option to user etc.

For dispalying some URL (website etc) in popup.

Yes... Yes... Standard... It's always good to use it. But if it would be true...

You can argue with the customer as long as you want. But if he asks for the view from which his IC agents can create activities, leads, service requests etc. with just one (exactly one) click I'd appreciate if you name the standard one.

Other example is: there is a dealer portal and SAP CRM is integrated in it. Dealers access the leads search to view leads distributed to them. Standard leads search doesn't fit because there are numbers of buttons and navigation links which are not relevant for dealers and you can not control them neither with authorization nor with configuration. Also some search criteria have to be predefined. So it's better to develop new search component then highly customize/enhance/modify the standard one.

The customer is always right.

So custom webui development is in place when there is a rare requirement. True. Otherwise there would be a standard component to satisfy your needs.

Hi Rohit,

As my experience, Is not a normal scenario to develop a new custom component, as consultants we have to try to keep the system as standard as possible and, SAP CRM includes tools to modify standard components to manage all the requirements.

However, since SAP EhP1, we have a new tool included in AET called Rapid Applications, With this tool you can do custom components from a table (or hierarchy of tables) or a web service. And all this proccess supported by wizards, without development needed. As result, Rapid Applications creates search view, result view, form view and embedded view.

I have use Rapid applications many times for example to manage modificantions in custom config table that has to be modified by the user instead of transaction launcher to SM30.

Another use is to show, embedded to customer or order for example, a table with external data.

Hello Rohit,

Suppose there is one scenario to create custom search component in any module ( i.e. marketing, sales , service or IC ) ...

go through following links to create one order search component:--

It can be any type of component with form view or table view depends upon your requirement.

Suppose you want to create one assignment block i.e. crop assignment block in account overview page. These crop data is related to business partner id. then in that case, we can create table view inside BP_head component and create one different window for this view to make it display. As  you want to add in account overview page , you would have to make it publically accessable. And, it can be done by creating interface view of that cropwindow and add it in component usage. then add in account overview mainwindow.

See you can find may links for that. but Requirements can be huge with lots of developments and data handling.
