To describe in high level, Data federator enables you to combine data from one or more different data sources. This has been introduced because of the fact that Universe can have only one data source. But in most scenarios report data needs to be combined from 2 different data sources. That why data federator is being introduced. It has been introduced in BO 3.x and is no longer available in BI 4.x as multisource functionality has been added and is handled by Adaptive processing servers.
