Unable to add Sybase Power Designer Integrator Source for Metadata Management

Hi ,

I am trying to add Sybase Power designer to Integrator source in the CMC for metadata management in Information Steward. I have given the user name as repository user name 'ADMIN' & Password. When I am testing it is giving the error like

connection error:com.bobj.mm.sdk.SDKException: IDS_PD_CONNECT_FAILED(ADM-10008).

I have tried with repository database user also it is not connecting .

Please help me how to resolve this issue.

Have you changed the PowerDesigner DCOM for the PowerDesigner User ADMIN that you want to use for integrating the metadata from the PowerDesigner repository according to the Information Steward Administrator Guide?

• Change the identity information for the PowerDesigner DCOM (Microsoft Distributed Component Object Model) on the machine that contains both the PowerDesigner and Information Steward application installations (see the topic "Changing DCOM user information for PowerDesigner").

7.2.5.1 Changing DCOM user information for PowerDesigner

Also do not forget to switch back after you have run the metadata integrator.

Thanks for your support.

I have seen the DCOM identity settings . But in the document  not mentioned  what option I have to change in the in identity tab of the DCOM settings.

Both Sybase Power Designer and Information Steward  on my laptop.

I have change the user settings in the identity tab and I gave the  system user id  as shown below

User ID : VENKATA-PC\Venkata

PWD    : xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Still I am facing the same error .   I have tried as below also without giving the system name.

User ID : Venkata

PWD    : xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Please suggest me how can I resolve this issue.

Hi Ramana,

Lets start with something easy.

Can you login to the database useing the above credentials?

Are the systems in the host files of each box?

Hi Bill ,

I used database credentials of the Sybase Power Designer  repository.  Still I am facing the same problem . I can connect relation database and SAP Data Services repository as integrator sources with out any issues.

Would it be possible for you to open a support incident so we can have a session to troubleshoot this?

Hi Bill Walker,

I can see only two components related to IS in the support portal( market place)

EIM-IS - Information Steward

EIM-IS-CPB - Information Steward - Cleansing Package Builder

Can I open the incident under EIM-IS component as I dont have EIM-IS-MM component.

Thanks for your support.

Now I can successfully created the Integrator Source for  Sybase Power Designer.

I have followed the below steps.

1.  These are my Power Designer repository connection information .

2.  I opened  the DCOM configuration manager  using dcomcnfg.exe .

3.  I changed the Power Designer identity properties  from launching user  to this user   with

     system log in details .

4. Create the integrator source with  log in name & password .

I am also trying to add Sybase Powerdesigner integrated source for metadata management. but i am unable to succeeded. I tried your steps configuring dcomcnfg.exe but still facing the same proble,

PowerDesigner is installed on the same machine where information steward also installed.

Can you please help me.

Now I tried and I am also facing the same error what you are getting after the SAP instructions. It worked for me earlier versions.
