Hi Anupam;

As the service is in starting status, it is the CMS which is not able to register tthe sevrver at CMS Db. Trace the CMS to get more information. In addition to this I suspect that cloning the server may not help.

It would be best if you try to create a fresh RAS server.

Have you performaned trace? If yes, are you facing the below message in trace log file?

  • Failed to create CrystalReports.AgentOptions. Please make sure DTSAgent.dll is installed. Also, make sure that DTSAgent.dll is registered as an in-process COM server by running the following on the command line: 'regsvr32.exe DTSAgent.dll

If you are facing this message in BI 4.0 on a UNIX machine then the below resolution might help you in resolving the issue. You can also refer to SAP Note # 1612745 for more info and attachment will be available there.

  Resolution

  1. Download the registry_repair_script40.tar attached with the note.
  2. Save it to the BO installation (sap_bobj) directory and extract the .sh file, ex:  tar -xvf registry_repair_script40.tar
  3. Transfer it to the BO installation directory (i.e sap_bobj) of the concerned BO server machine.
  4. Explicitly provide full rights (e.g. chmod 777 filename) to the script.
  5. Stop all the BO services
  6. Run ps -ef | grep BOBJUSER (where BOBJUSER is the account used to run the Server Intelligence Agent) to identify any hanging processes.  Kill those (kill PID ; kill -9 PID)
  7. The script makes a backup of the faux registry in the mainwin directory but make a backup of the following directory $BI_INSTALL_DIRECTORY/sap_bobj/data/.bobj/registry
  8. In both directories, /tmp and /usr/tmp, delete all files and directories owned by the SAPBOBJ user
  9. Ensure the $BI_INSTALL_DIRECTORY/sap_bobj/serverpids directory is also empty
  10. Navigate back to the sap_bobj location and execute the script using the command ./registry_repair_script40.sh
  11. Once it finishes, restart all the BO services and now the RAS server should start successfully.

Take care if you download the file attached and try to executed in linux. It will not work. First you should convert that file to linux format with this command: :set fileformat=unix

Also you will need to have some libraries in linux installed. Let me know if it helps you to resolve the issue.

Vijay

Are you able to find any logs or any error message in the eventviewer?

Give a try by stopping this CR2013RAS and create a new service in the CMC.

Dont clone the existing.

Thanks for the reply Prasad.

I sopped and cloned it, but still I am getting the same status. It says "starting", but it never starts.

I have a client installation, what is the way to check logs in event viewer ?

Thanks,

Anupam

Because my client installation will not show event viewer logs of BO application. Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks,

Hi Anupam,

Don't clone the existing server. Create a new CR2013RAS and check it.

Eventviewere logs needs to be tested on the server side, not on the client side.

Try to enable the logs, If the issue still occurs with new CR2013RAS server
