serial number issue

We are receiving Gas cylinder by movement type 501 M. But the issue is I can receive same serial number cylinder from another vendor but system not allowing.

Giving massage - Stock data of serial number X not suitable for movement Massage - IO231

it looks like you are adopting your vendors serial numbers as you own, in that case it might be a rare situation, but unavoidable that you run into such issues.

SAP is usually expecting that you define the serial number for your self, hopefully from an internal number range.

if you work with external numbers then you may need to use a prefix to make it unique

We can one serial number for two different material codes , but you cannot have same serial number for same material twice which will be a duplicate.
