AO Equivalent for BEx RESET_DATA_PROVIDER

Hello AO Experts,

I am in the process of converting a BEx Planning (Integrated Planning) workbook to AO (vers 2.2.3). The BEx workbook utlised the RESET_DATA_PROVIDER command which allows you to dynamically change the underlying BW query data source (via vba).

I have searched long and hard but I cannot see an equivalent function in Analysis for Office. I would really appreciate any advice on this, even if it is to confirm it is not possible.

Hi Bruce,

I do have exactly the same Problem that you have described: When migrating AfO-Workbooks that contain input-Ready-Queries for planning that I do Exchange dynamically, I do not find a corresponding way to achieve this in Analysis for Office. Not even in the newest Version 2.8

Did you meanwhile find a solution after more than 3 years. If so, I would be looking forward
hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Klaus

Hi Tobias,

Thanks for your reply. The specific functionality I am looking for in AO is the ability to dynamically change the BEx query that forms the data source. It is possible to manually change the query behind the data source via the Components tab, but I am looking to do this programatically.

In BEx it was possible to do this with a command button using the RESET_DATA_PROVIDER command, which allowed you to specify the infocube and query. My specific use case was so I could switch between different input queries but through the same grid, which reduces the number of data providers you need active at any one time.

Hi,

as I think, RESET_DATA_PROVIDER is to get the new data or? In Analysis Office you could do a refresh all. (User Guide Page 122)

Refresh Planning Objects on Refresh All If you select this check box, planning objects in the workbook are refreshed when a refresh is executed with Refresh All.

By default, this check box is selected when you create a new workbook.
