I have been asked to investigate options around the use of our SAP for better handling of property/land information (yes, currently Excel). I've looked at the SAP Real Estate management module but that that seems overkill for our purposes. We are not a realestate company and don't lease out the properties etc, we are an energy utility..
We either own or rent properties to put our electricity assets on, and we want to simply record the properties, associate them with the relevant fixed asset record, and record the electricity , water, gas and other services against the properties.
I would assume that this coule be handled in a relatively straigtforward way in ERP. Perhaps using functional location structures to represent the properties, and associating any electrical assets as technical objects to this functional locations, and ensuring that invoices payable are also recorded against the functional location.
Am I on the right track with this thinking? Would we be better to just adopt the Real Estate management module and be done with it? Any thoughts suggestions welcome.
