Dear All,
In my company we have around 300 computers and we have replaced every computer after 3 years (total life of computer machine). Every year we purchase around 20 to 25 computers . To identify which computer have completed their life its a lengthy tasks (for different reasons).
Is it possible that I have entered Purchasing date and Expiry Date in SAP system and when computer expire its purchase requisition raised on system automatically,
If yes then how ????
your valuable suggestions are welcomed.

Why don't you read about maintenance plan by searching document from SCN.
You will find sufficient document for maintenance plan.
Maintenance Plan (SAP Library - Customer Service (CS))
Creating the Maintenance Plan (SAP Library - Quality Management (QM))
Dear Jürgen & Ajit,
thanks for the reply. I have very little idea about maintenance plan. Can you let me know the steps .

IF you are maintaining these as an asset, you can as well have an equipment number for that.
from PM using the functionality of maintenance plan and scheduling ( program RISTRA20 ) you can create alert notificaton at the desired interval you need.

to use an expiration date, it would be necessary that you manage inventory with batches. Further you would need to execute a report to transfer the stock from unrestricted to blocked stock.
Further you would either need an extra material master per computer, to use a reorder point of 1 to get a new requisition when the stock becomes blocked, or you manage all under one material and each computer is a batch, but then you would need to change the reorder point always to the maximum number of computers. So that a new PR is created when 1 of them is moved to blocked stock and hence the stock falls below the reorder point.
Question is always, do you really want to show asset as inventory?
Alternative each computer could be an equipment, and here you can manage from PM module and preventive maintenance to start the reorder process.
From experience I would say that the people are more keen on new computers that they would love to monitor the life cycle by theirself and even create the PR manually when the 3 years are over.
