In File based events, can we use an external file?

Using SAP BI4.1

While creating File based events in CMC, can we use an external file which is on a different server in the file location. But the admin guide says below:

"Note: Type the absolute path to the file that the Event Server should look for (for example, C:\folder\filename, or
/home/folder/filename). The drive and directory that you specify must be visible to the Event Server. Ideally, the directory should
be on a local drive. "

I want to make sure if this is only recommended or anyone has tried using an external file successfully.

Thanks

    Hi Ravinder,

Yes this works, you can use any type of files.

Just make sure that you give the proper location to point the file.

    Onkar

Would work fine. Do ensure that the local account / BO user has adequate read rights on the location mentioned.

    hi Ravindra,

we can use the external file location also. But make sure the below two points.

1)dont give any short cut shRed folders. Allways make sure you are giving complete path.

    2) make sure that bo service account or accoount you mentioned in the destination should have access on the shared folder.

    or

you can map the shared folder to bo server as a drive and set the destination.this needs to be done in all the nodes in cluster
