Hi,

Anybody has any idea about the device staging?

Can Afaria administrator  enroll the device on behalf of user?

Suppose we have 100 enterprise devices and we want to distribute the devices to employees.

But what we want?

I want, when employee will get the device that time he will get configured device i mean he will get enrolled device.

Employee won't do anything no enrollment and nothing.

Administrator will do everything enrollment, Installation of client and configuration of device.

Anyon

Hi,

Yes administrator can perform the enrollment of the device and handover the device to user .

It depends on Client requirement.

Scenario 1

1 . If device owned by corporate administrator can enroll the device and later hand over to employee.

Only concern will be if the Active directory or using self service portal is been used you need to input NT login id which is not possible for security reason. (Password sharing will be security concern).

Afaria  server without Active directory in environment  will have no problem.

BYOD environment will have concern may be user will be not comfortable to share the device with administrator .

I will suggest you to work self service portal make a Step by step documentation process for enrollment and mail the document to all

However its possible but the last call will be from your client .

Hi Chetan,

There is any feature that we can create the super user in Active directory.

And we will enroll the device on behalf of user with the use of Super user credential..

At the time of enrollment we will provide the super user credential then just after it should ask the user name.

when we will put the user name it will fetch the user details from the active directory or if user dosen't exist then we will get message.

Without active directory we can do it because no need to share the user credential.

Thanks

Hi,

If you want to go with active directory , you can create 1 Login id which will be dedicate for enrollment of all device that can be possible , but the problem will be it will take the same user name in afaria console for all the device , Apart from that in future or if you are looking like exchange mail policy it will create problem for those policy.

What i can suggest you go without self service portal method, create enrollment code and enroll all device with no authentication . The problem will be the same in future if you are looking for the policy like exchange mail it will not work . Exchange policy or access mail policy(ISAPI) required Exchange mail and NT login details at the time of enrollment

Hi Chetan,

I think we don't have such feature like device staging till now.

Because active directory is primary thing which we  want to use and exchange as well.

May be we have some alternate option.

Thanks for your reply.

I will search about this and will let you know.

Thanks
