SOP & PIR

Dear Team,

I understand that SOP (MC87) & PIR (MD61) both are forecasting tool.

1. In which business case, i need to prefer SOP & which business case, i need to prefer PIR as forecasting tool?

2. Is it advised to have the forecasting plan in MD61 & MC87 simultaneously for the same material?

Thanks

    Hi,

Results of SOP are passed on to demand Management i.e. MD61.... in the form of PIR's planned independent requirements...

    1. In which business case, i need to prefer SOP & which business case, i need to prefer PIR as forecasting tool?

If you want to calculate the future requirement of the products based on their past consumption data, using some calculations and taking the current stocks in to consideration then you need to use SOP functionality. Finally results of SOP are transferred to MD61...

In some industries they do forecasting in other outside tools ( not in SAP ECC ) like in MS-Excel, M2, ADS etc.. then they enter the future requirements which are arrived in other tools directly in MD61 in SAP....some time they transfer through IDocs to MD61

    2. Is it advised to have the forecasting plan in MD61 & MC87 simultaneously for the same material?

Planning done in MC87 is ultimately transferred to MD61.. there is no use of keeping plan in both...

    Hope this helps

    Thanks

    Kumar
