Hello,
I have a question regarding the usage of the matching/gruping capability of MDM in general (and 5.5 in particular).
For reporting purposes, in the consolidation scenario, it can be beneficial to match and group records that are not actually duplicates, but rather "belong" together and should be grouped in BW.
On the other hand, if the intention is to use MDM down the road as a harmonization and central maintenance tool, these records will (probably) need to be maintained and distributed individually to source systems and this will be greatly complicated by grouping the records in MDM (as I understand it).
In this situation - is it advisable to match/group records (in a consolidation scenario), that are not duplicates but "belong" together, and trust that suitable workarounds or alternatives may be offered to enable individual maintenance and distribution of these records as if they in fact were not "grouped"?
Or is in fact MDM designed and intended to only consolidate/group duplicate (identical) records?
I assume that if ONLY consolidation scenarios are planned, it would not matter and MDM can be used in this fashion without problems.
Thanks,
Lars
