installation problem on vm with design studio 1.2

Hello,

I 've a problem installing Design Studio 1.2 on a virtual machine. (DESIGN_STUDIO_BIP_ADD_ON_12_41_WIN64_X64)

I tried the following configurations:

Host OS is Windows 7

VM Ware Player OS Windows 2008 (tried windows 2012 as well and Oracle VM instead of VMWare)

SAP BI 4.1 SP2

SAP Design Studio 1.2

Everytime I get the following error during installation:

When installing (with same VM configuration) Design Studio 1.1 with SAP BI 4.0 everything works fine.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

To clarify, are you trying to install the DS client on VM Ware or just the analysis service on BI Platform?

We are using VM Ware on a Windows 2008 server without this issue

It's the BI platform part. The DS client is running fine. Maybe it's my notebook's underlying hardware (i7 3630QM) since all different OS-host/guest combinations I've been trying are not successful 😕

I had exactly the same issue installing it on a Windows 2008 within a VM. I made the installation media available through a shared folder. I found out that the jvm is somewhere within the installations directory structure. For some reason the java crahses when ran from the shared folder. I copied the installation media to the c: drive and installed succesfully from there.
