issue for price control indicator

hi,all

As we know ,we have activated material ledger and set price control s with price determin 3 for finished-good material .after running actual costing in ckmlcp, system will change price control indicator from S to V for finished-good material.

I am facing an issue regarding price control indicator .I have ran material ledger in ckmlcp without error , however the price control indicator in finished-good material is still S,not change  from s to v . look for solution ,thank in advance.

Best regard!

The correct answer for this question is that you have not flagged revalute material in the Post Closing step. I have test in my system.

Dear Jack,

With price determination 3 and price control S the price differences are posted to stock with Material Ledger costing run (transaction CKMLCP).

Please be advised that for material with Price Control 'S', the V-price calculation if for reference only.  If you want to use the real PUP, you should use Price Control 'V'.

HI Waman,

Greetings for new year wishes.  I have a small doubt on your post.

I have seen several posts in SDN stated that  "material price control should be "S" ( Both Raw Material, SFG & FG) if you activated Material Ledger..! "   Is it correct..?

Hi Sekhar,

Happy new year to you too !

Please refer note

596558 - Material ledger production startup

As per the note:

      b) Changing the price determination control

At production start, the system automatically sets all materials to price determination control 2. If required, you can change the price determination control using transaction CKMM. If, for example, you activate actual costing, you must set the price determination control to 3 for the materials which should participate in the actual costing.

If you set '3 (not binding)' for price determination control in OMX1, that means newly created material get price determination control 3 (single/multilevel) automatically.

As price determination control 3 is only allowed in combination with price control S, price control is set to 'S'. 3V materials do not exist.

If you change the price determination indicator from 3 to 2 (transaction-based) in Accounting 1 view the price control flag is no longer greyed out, thus you can set it to 'V'.

Waman Sir

Wish you a very happy new year.

When I saw your first reply the same question came in my mind also what Raja shekar has asked. Thanks for giving clarification but I am sorry that I am still not clear. You have described as per note what is possible and what should be done.

I want to understand the meaning of your statement " If you want to use the real PUP, you should use Price Control 'V'" Do you mean that price control 'V' should be preferred if we want to get actual (precisely REAL PUP).

I will be obliged if you clarify.

Hi Rajneesh,

Happy new year to you too.

In Material Ledger you may use materials with price determination 2, price control V or materials with price determination 3, price control S. In the first case (2V), actual price will be calculated after each material movement, while in the second case (3S), actual price will be calculated with the cockpit (CKMLCP) at the end of the period. Only in this case, price differences are rolled-up to finished
materials when multi-level price determination is run.
For materials 3S, the price differences are recorded in the Material Ledger tables and when running the actual price determination at period-end closing (CKMLCP), the price differences will be included in the actual price.

For materials 2V, the main material (finished product) will not include price differences from lower material (raw material or semi-finished product), as the materials will not be settled single or multi-level.
is not settled single or multi-level.
Therefore, you should consider using price determination 3, price control S if you wish price differences from lower levels to be rolled up.

For materials with price control 'S' the stock valuation is based on standard price, and the period unit price (PUP) is for reference (or statistical) purposes only; for a true Moving Average Price (MAP),
you should change the price control to 'V', in which the logics for calculating is different from the one used in statistical PUP.

2S materials, calculation of moving average price does not work correctly. If price control S, price determination should be 3.

Please read note 532932.
This note explains the logic for V-Price materials but it is also valid for the statistical V-price in a S-Price material.

The problem with the statistical v-price is the usage of the price differences as calculated regarding to the standard price logic.

With price determination 3 in the material, these price differences are posted to stock with Material Ledger costing run (transaction CKMLCP).

Waman Sir

Thanks for giving so much of your precious time and explanation.

One point here to mention that somewhere in the documents I have read that we can use this PUP for our stock valuation where as according to your statement "For materials with price control 'S' the stock valuation is based on standard price, and the period unit price (PUP) is for reference (or statistical) purposes only; for a true Moving Average Price (MAP)", we can not use it as this is statistical only.

May be I am confused some where. Please give some more minutes to me to be clarified.

Hi..

You check whether date of creation for finished-good material is after material ledger closing using t-code MM04.

If so, and mm document related to the material was generated for closing period, you should cancel material ledger closing and re-execute it again.
