back up list of values

What is the best way to back up a report with a dynamic parameter that uses a list of values?

if we just copy the data base and the file store these objects are missed correct? (the biz view, data connection, etc)

Can we backup the lov items seperatley? i can see them in the UMT... is dropping them to a BIAR file the best way? isn't UMT deprecated?
