SAP BW Remodelling issue

Hi All,

If performing remodelling activity directly in prod environment then it will lead to difference/inconsistecies between dev->qty->acpt->prod right??

Is it the right way to do remodelling in production environment or should we do it first qty or acpt systems and then in production??

Please advise.

regards

Avinash

Hi Avinash,

It is always safe to do your changes in the Dev environment and move your changes to Production.

But still if your client is open and you want to make your changes(Remodel the Infocube) in Production itself  and want to synchronize the object after the Remodel across the landscape. Create a TR in production and do a Retro transporation(from Prod->Quality->Dev) so that your objects(Remodelled Infocube in this case) will be in synch.

Contact your BASIS support for the process of Retro tansportation

Raghu

HI Avinash, Normally production system will be locked If you confident enough you can request for access and can do it.. but it is always safe to do it in DEV  then transport it Production

Hi Avinash,

if ur doing any changes on PRD do all changes in DEV and QAS if ur client acceptable.

try to do changes in DEV and import to QAS and PRD, it is better way.

Thanks,

Phani.

Hi

As Raman said the prod. environement should be locked for changes at all times and I highly recommend you do the changes in dev. first.

hope that helps

Hi Avinash,

You can use remodeling in Dev and then transport same to Production so its always better to not doing anything in Production, test in detail and then transport further which will avoid run time surprises.

Hi Avinash,

If your client accept and your confident to do at prod then you can do it.

normally client won't open prod system to do new changes. if nay things happens on prod while doing new changes, its unable to trace the issue.so that's we need to do at dev system and then move changes to quality and prod thru transport. its normal procedure.

Thanks
