MARA-MATNR & VBAP-MATNR values

The link between MARA and VBAP tables is MATNR. There are difference in the pattern of MATNR in these two tables. Please find attached screenshot for the same. Now my question is why there is difference in values.is there any conversion logic or any reference table where I can look into. Please suggest.

Open both tables side by side and then go to Settings - User Parameters on tab Data Browser there is format, see if you selected Check Conversion exits for one and not for other table

I dont think so.  Your screen shot shows only first 200 records from both the tables.  Better check with one example by considering MATNR from MARA and pass on in VBAP.  Update here what is the outcome.

You are checking different materials. If you check the same material in VBAP and MARA it would be same and this MATNR field join in Query reports work fine. Don't know from what perspective you are asking but I have joined these fields many times and it worked.

Please check the material number in the VBAP table. make sure you have given the same material number in the selection screen of SE16 which you have copied from MARA table.

Hi Soumen,

Copy the MATNR values from VBAP table and give them in the selection screen of SE16N of the MARA table. If you dont find any entry for them, then there is some concern.

Otherwise, your current screenshot just indicates different materials in VBAP and MARA table, which is usual.

Please, check if you are using alternative ID for materials. Check SAP Note 78093 - Display of alternative material identifiers. Although I believe it isn't relevant, check also SAP Note 72286 - Lexicographical <-> non-lexicographical material no.

MARA-MATNR is usually copied unchanged into VBAP-MATNR during order creation.  Unless someone has created some customer enhancements, there is no conversion logic or reference table.

It is not clear to me what you mean by "...difference in the pattern of MATNR in these two tables."  Please elaborate.

I see nothing in your two displays that indicates any problems.  Actually, I don't even see the same material number displayed in both tables, so I don't know you could be showing a difference in 'patterns' - whatever that is.
