How to assign Pm sub assembly in pm main assembly

I was trying to assign pm sub assemby into pm assemby by system giving error message pm assemby not maintained in plant .As pm assemby we are creating with out assingning to any plant.

Hi Anand,

1.Please create Maintenance Assemblies with the Material Type as IBAU by using the transaction code MM01.

2.Create Equipment BOM by using the transaction code IB01 and give the Item Category as "I" (PM structure element) and enter the Maintenance Assembly number which was created in the earlier step.

As you said in your thread, for IBAU materials there is no plant specific data will be maintained and you can use it for any plant.

Please note that PM assemblies you can not assign in Materail BOM in CS01 transaction code.PM assemblies you can assign only in Equipment BOM (IB01).

I was able to assign pm assemblt in cs01 as well as ib01 by selecting item category i.

elaborating the KD's words further, extend the assembly material no. (IBAU) with MM01, choose required view on selection screen (image_a), mention required plant (image_b), edit any value if required and save. same procedure is followed to extend it for Storage locations or Valuation types.

Go to MM01. Mention the Material Code. Select the views which are related to Plant viz., MRP, Plant Data, Stock views.

I hope, you are not MM consultant. If you have anyone, check with them on extending materials to plant.

Assemblies are the type of materials. Unless, you extend that to some plant, you can't assign that to main assembly in BoM.
