R3TRANS is unable to connect to DB using new DB Connnect user

Hello,

I performed a redirected restore and am now having trouble when SAP attempts to connect to the DB.

System is AIX/DB2

1. I created the new DB Connect user to match the source schema name (sappe1)

2. Updated all the environment variables to match the new schema name (sappe1)

3. Updated the password using dscdb6up -create sappe1 <password>

4. Ran ./db2iupdt sappe1 to update the instance

5. Granted the proper permissions on the DB

6. Tested the new user(sappe1) could connect to the DB using db2 connect to QE1 user sappe1 -successful

When I run R3trans -d or -x I get the following errors

Log file: Trans.log

Log file: db2diag.log

I can log into both the server and DB with this user but fails only when R3TRANS calls it. I ran this same retore on a system with the same SID and it works fine when I do not have to change the DB connect user. Is there another step that is required to set the password correctly?

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

-Anthony

The problem has been corrected. I had to login as root, su to sap<sid>, su back to root and change the password for the user.

    Hi Anthony

I had faced similar problem after performing redirect restore as part of the System Refresh activity.

    Can you please try this ( I have assumed PE1 - PROD and QE1 - QA ) ...

    1. dscdb6up -create sappe1 <Passwd>
    password file '/usr/sap/QE1/SYS/global/dscdb6.conf' successfully written

    2. db2 connect to QE1 user sappe1 using <Password>

    Database Connection Information

    Database server = DB2/LINUXX8664 9.7.3

    SQL authorization ID = SAPPE1

    Local database alias = QE1

    3. dscdb6up sappe1 <Passwd>

password file '/usr/sap/BST/SYS/global/dscdb6.conf' successfully writtenEffective userid is not root.

OS passwords can not be changed.ABORTING! Please check permissions and ownership

Let me know if the R3trans -d works after this .

    Thanks

    Rishi
