Can we perform all L2 and L3 basis activities in IDES like,

Kernel upgrade, Oracle upgrade, DB2 fix packs, Support packs, OS migrations, Refresh, Transports, etc..

Is the support pack released for SAP ERP same as SAP IDES

Can we apply the support packs like PI and API same as SAP ERP in SAP IDES

What are the limitations in IDES in compared to SAP ERP

These activities can be performed.

Oracle upgrade, DB2 fix packs,

These are database related activities and it doesn't matter whether the application running on it is IDES, DRM, ECC or BW, etc.

SAP does not release SP's for IDES systems. Standard SAP SP's are applicable for the IDES systems.

Can we apply the support packs like PI and API same as SAP ERP in SAP IDES

You can apply the standard SP's to the IDES systems. Like I mentioned before SAP does not release SP's specific for the IDES systems.

What are the limitations in IDES in compared to SAP ERP.

An IDES system is basically a demo system and it is not specific for one product like ERP. IDES systems are available for any product of SAP, like IDES for ECC, IDES for CRM, IDES for SCM, IDES for BW, etc. It is used to demonstrate the use of an SAP system in a business environment. That doesn't mean it will have the full functionality. That is one of the main reasons as to why an IDES system should not be used as a production system.

Hi,

Whenever new release level is released for ERP, is that can be used in IDES

For ex. if a new level of SAP_HR module is release for and ERp, can it be use as  a support pack for IDES also?

No but sap would release IDES for all the ERP release and you can install them.

I dont think so.

What are the limitations in IDES in compared to SAP ERP

When you install ERP IDES its same to SAP ERP system that you install. Only difference is that sap will give you data and some functionality already configured in IDES.
