Hello everyone,
I use Translation Managment tool 4.1 SP2 after upgrade from 4.0 SP6 , now it doesn't work.
If I open local universe or something else in local directory all it's working. If I open from repository, when I try to import from repository the message appear:
import Status Fails java.lang.NullPointerException.
Any Idea?
Thanks
Viviana Venturini
Hi All,
I had found the solution .
It's necessary to delete the cache of translation Management Tool (in the client)
In this way the translation manager recreate everything and all it's right.
thanlks

Hi Viviana, I have the same issue and unfortunately I can't find a way to delete the cache of the translation management tool (from within the tool). The support notes don't mention anything on how to do this. How did you achieve this? Did you delete the .tmgr files from your default folders?
Thanks in advance,
Campbell
Hi Viviana, thanks. I've split several APS's out but haven't done this yet for the translation service. However the core APS that I have is sized to 4Mb so I don't think this is a server side error, and is more on the client side. I've tried to delete the local files under my username as you've suggested and this hasn't had any effect. What I'm now finding is that sometimes importing/exporting WebI reports from the server randomly works, and most of the time it fales with the NullPointerException. Quite frustrating!
Thanks again for your tip though.

Already done, but doesn't work. maybe the problem is relative the setup installation, because in a laptop with full installation BI4.1 SP2 all is work, in a laptop with BI4.1 SP2 upgrade installation doesn't work

Please follow the resolution steps mentioned in KBA below.. Java error is very generic and possibly caused by Adaptive Processing Server is getting overloaded .

Create dedicated APS for translation management service.
go to the command line for each Adaptive Processing Server and increase the Java heap size limit to "-Xmx2g". This parameter controls the java heap size to allocate for the APS.
if you have a large system, increase the heap size to 3g or 4g.
