Update in Task List after change in Standard Text (SAP PM)

Hi all,

I am new onboard. I have tried to see if any specific answer to my question but with no success...

Here is my problem:

After creating a standard text (CA10) and adding it to different task list operations (IA08), I was expecting these task lists to be updated after a change is brought to the Standard Text but this does not seem to work either within the general task lists or when scheduling a maintenance plan which contains the task list.

I would have expected the change to take effect. If not, I don't see much use in using this functionality.

Can anyone tell me if I'm missing something ?

Hi Gilles,

Still here and working on SAP...

It works fine in my system using the standard shop papers.

You cannot see the SO10 text when immediately opening the operation long text button (the SO10 text should have a line something like INCLUDE CA10_TEXT_NAME OBJECT TEXT ID ST), but if you use the following menu path, then you should be able to view the CA10 and SO10 texts: Text->Print Preview.

The same should be true with your shop paper print outs.

The CA10 text is used to copy the text from the Standard Text into the Operation long text, then the link is broken..

However, there is a neat trick you can use in SAP as follows:

  1. Create an SO10 Standard Text and add your text as required.
  2. Create you CA10 Standard Text and include the SO10 above via menu path: Include->Text->Standard ensuring you do NOT select the Expand Immediately flag.
  3. Assign the CA10 Standard Text into the task list or order operation(s).

Using this method the text is more dynamic in that the text is only expanded at the point of viewing the data. So if you update the SO10 text and then go to the task list/orders), then you will see the updated text from SO10..

OK, then it looks like you've created your own shop papers and you will need to change them.

Have a look at the standard shop papers which cater for SO10 texts.

Hi Pete,

Yes the print preview within the long text works fine but the printout of the shop papers only result in the one line showing, in my case:

So what I get as shop papers is:

One Sheet being work order header (with all relevant information)

One sheet for operation 0010 containing that one line only instead of detailed text.

Hi Pete !

Nice to know you're still active in the SAP world...

Thanks for your reply. Your suggestion works very well and you are right, it is a neat trick !

The only problem I have is for printing the work order. We have a script that has been set up for the needs of the business but when I print a work order where the standard text has been added according to this procedure, it prints only the one line which is the link to the standard text (from SO10) and expanding it does not solve the problem since further changes will not be reflected.

So, I guess this needs to be addressed by some developpers right ?
