Tableau Dashboard on webi report

Hi Team,

We have a requirement of creating a Tableau Dashboard.

Currently we have xcelsius Dashboard connected with BIWS.

Can we create a similar Dashboard with Tableau using BIWS approach, like replacing Xcelsius with Tableau.

we have Universe , web i reports and we are using BO 4.1.

What are the options available to create a Tableau Dashboard using BO?

Hi Nagaraj,

As per our findings creating dashboards from POC performed on Tableau, this tool connects to BW through MDX expression only. However they did mention to have a thought bringing more connectivity options to SAP data. Moreover, Tableau does not connect to Universes as well, it requires SQL queries to populate data to its components. You find similar and enhanced features than Dashboards in Tableau also much interactive and easy to develop, but you can only connect through direct data sources (Oracle, SQL server, Teradata etc) currently.

So, use relational sources for better performance in case you are trying to develop dashboards in Tableau
