Hello team,

Thank you for registering me with the community. Kindly address my doubts below:

A big HELLO to everyone from Mayur V Patel, Mumbai, India. I'm working with a private firm (educational sector) & we happened to implement SAP SD 3 yrs. back. I'm an AM - Operations, PAN India Retail and E-commerce. I have been working on the module since past 2.8 yrs. & find myself very proud to mention this. I was a part of the support team while implementation & have been an end-user since then. I manage / co-ordinate overall operations, supply chain, etc. via the SD module & I enjoy doing it. I recently completed my Masters as well in Ops. mgmt. & supply chain. I have an overall experience of 9+ yrs. & I'm looking out for an ultimate exposure in SAP (permanent career):

I'm very passionate about SAP & would definitely like to make a very choice-full career in it. Please help me with the below:

• Should I go for certification?
• Is there a way to enhance my career in SAP & transform to be a consultant without the certification?
• What is the best available option @ this stage for me?
• I have grown up whole my life to ultimately be around engines, cars, etc. all the time. I would love to explore an option if I have, to work with an automobile company, manufacturer, etc. & use my skills in SAP for them.

Not required, if you are really interested , then go for certification

Yes, possible

my recommendation would be to continue with the existing job, if you want consultant role, then you may need to start from fresher level.

in case, you are really interested , then you can switch over to consultant role.

Thank you Mr. Singh for your inputs. Also if I continue with my current job, what can I expect as a SAP user? I do not want to be an user all the time & would want to move a step ahead. Cheers.

Hi Mayur...

Should I go for certification?

Not Compulsory, but as per my opinion you should go for certification, you are end-user and there is major difference between running the transaction codes from sales order to invoice (OTC cycle) and prepare/configure these standard transaction codes with lots of validations & user exists as per business requirement with the help of abapers.

SAP Certification would give you a better marketability.

Yes its possible.You already have Business knowledge in the area of sales and distribution processing and you were part of support team so It is a plus point for you.

Yes you can, if you are really passionate, no body can stop you to become a successful consultant..

Thanks Ms. Jain for your revert. I'm on a hunt to grab opportunities in the market for SAP SD profile, because my current work is quite stagnant in terms of new learning. It can be the same educational sector that I work with or it may be some EX-IM, logistics, automobile, etc. co. I'm on a lookout for an environment where it's SAP all around me, all the time. Meanwhile, I'm trying to get involved in a phase-2 project that is being implemented in my parent co.

Yes please get involved in phase-2 and try to work more closely with consultants and abapers as well.

and keep trying for new opportunities in consultancy side by side.
