Regarding query level in reporting(BW/BI)

Hi All,

I am little confused regarding my requirement i.e changes in Query level:

My requirement is:

we have [0CALMONTH] calendar year/month info object and it has a variable [0I_CALMO] AR  calendar year/month in filter ,free chars pane.

Now my requirement is :Rename Calendar Month/Year to "RC Creation Month/Year" and make it as mandatory prompt.

I am confused where to make changes,whether i need to change description only for info object as "RC creation month/year and make mandatory or just change variable description or need to change the description of both info object and variable.

Could any one clarify me.

Hi,

There are few things which i need to address:

1. If you change any thing in standard variable then this will impact globally wherever it is being used.So in you case if you need to make the variable entry mandatory then this change will effect everywhere.Better to create a Zvariable with the same parameters and give the desired description and use the same in the query as well.

  2.  You can confirm with the user whether the description of variable need to be changed or the calmonth infoobject description.

Create a custom variable and do the necessary changes at the bex reporting level. No need to do any corrections in the backend.

As per Anshu Lihori post you can confirm with the user whether the description of the variable or info object description.

And for variable is it single or Multiple single values with mandatory this also you need to confirm from the business users.

Need to change at filter level only , first check   0I_CALMO  variable propeties   how it is defined either it is optinal /mandatory

1. if it is mandatory then change just description.

2. if it is optional change it as mandatory and change description.

Hi Krishna Reddy,

It seems they asked to change the variable name description as "RC Creation Month/Year" and properties as Mandatory.

So, you need to change the variable description and in details tab change to mandatory. But, change for existing variables is not good practice. Because this variable was used in some where probably.

You need to create one variable under Calendar Year month and give the description as RC Creation Month/Year in the General tab and in Details tab give the mandatory.
