BI 4.1 Dashboard services after clustering

Hi,

We have installed BI 4.1 in two Server boxes without any web tier. Will install web tier later. While installing in server2, we chose "Expand an existing SAP BOE deployment option(requires remotes installed CMS). We have clustered these two servers. When we are testing the failover, using a test dashboard. We are getting an error while viewing the dashboard.

Scenarios is

When both SIAs (SIA1 and SIA2) are running, the dashboard under folders is working from CMC.

When SIA2 is stopped and SIA1 is running, dashboard is working, but when SIA1 is stopped and SIA2 is running the test dashboard is not working and giving the error " Could not log on to SAP BO Enterprise". Why this error occur and how to avoid this in cluster environment.

Also I noticed, in SIA1 under Dashboard services -> both Dashboard cache and Processing services are appeared and running , where as in SIA2 there are no Dashboard services. Is this part of BI 4.1 clustering or do we need to add these dashboard services manually in SIA2 also. If so why is this behaviour, since I chose "Expand the existing installtion and made two SIAs as clustered.

Also let me know the troubleshoot options to resolve this.

Appreciate anyones help.

Thanks,

JK

In the second server also, you need to add Dashboard cache and processing services in order to fail over to work.

    • Hi,

i think we have to go for the basics here first.

Your Dashboard is connecting via a Web Services Interface to your BO Services (dswsbobje). Thats why you need an Application Server who hosts this Web Services Interface.

In your case this is currently the WACS which i not recommend. You should go for the Tomcat Web Application Server.

Because the WACS and the SIA`s (You have two WACS Services and two SIA`s) are on the same Node you see the Hostname of your SIA2 in the URL under Web Services.

      I would recommend the following:

      1. On SIA1 and SIA2 install the Tomcat Web AS from BI

      2. Contact your Network Team that they configure you a Load Balancer

-> A LB is Out of Scope of the BI Application. Its a 3rd Party Product

      3. Configure the LB URL in the Web Service and Open Document Application within the CMC.

      Regards

      -Seb.

    Hi Sebastian and All,

    Sorry for late response.

Yes, I agree with you. Here in our case, before they install the Web server ( tomcat/BW java) users testing the dashboards using WACS. Now they installed BW java web server and configured the web service URL. The dashboards are working fine.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Regards,

    JK
