Hellow all,
my scenario:
1. WBS determines dates
2. Method: free scheduling
3. 2 levels hierarchy of WBS's
4. Basic dates are maintained at WBS top level (only)
5. One network header assigned to WBS top level
6. Activities network are assigned to WBS's level 2
now for the question:
When I schedule the project, I expected that behavior system will agregate activity schedule dates to WBS top level, actually, only WBS's level 2 (that the activities are assigned to) agregates the scheduling dates from their relevant activities. In the scheduling dates of top WBS it seems that the result are the same as basic dates.
can anyone please explain me the rationale that stand behind this behavior? is it possible to configure the system so that WBS top level will agregate in schedulind dates results, all activities that assigned to WBS's level 2?
Graphic explanation at the attached file.
thank in advance,
Best regards,
Nir
Hi Nir,
Configure the scheduling setting in the system as below
1. Wbs sched.prof : backward
2. Sched. scenario : Bottom-up scenario
3. Plan.meth/basic : strict bottom up.
after these settings schedule the project, you can see the dates from activities in project definition and wbs elements.
Thanks,

Hi Nag,
thanks for your reply, however, bottom up overrite the WBS basic dates and this is against the needs of my customer.
I think that in free scheduling and also top down it should be agregating, maby this behavior relate to the principle that the activities are assigned to more then one WBS. I will be glad if somebody have the answer....
Thanks Ken,
Probably I didn't explain myself very well...
I excpect the schduling dates to agregate to the WBS top level and not the basic dates.
In SAP help I have noticed the following paragraph:
Scheduling the Work Breakdown Structure
Use
You can schedule a project or a sub-hierarchy of the project with all activities assigned to it.
Please note the section I bolded,I don't understand what SAP means with "the system treats these activities as external networks in scheduling". I assume that there is a connection to the fact that in my scenario the network header assigned to WBS top level, and its activities are assigned to more then one WBS's level 2.
Can anyone explain this issue?
