Recall date info about serialised equipment

Hi Gurus,

We are in the medical devices industry. I would like to enter recall date of the equipment when we receive the material from the customer or when we run the recall report to update the value.

Where I can enter this date ? is there any standard function or SAP delivered field available?

Appreciate your reply.

Subramanian.

I am assuming you already have equipment record for serialized material.

There is expiry date field on equipment. But you can use classification functionality for equipment with class type 002.

Option 1: You can add classification with characteristics = Recall date and maintain recall date. You can run various reports like IQ09 or CJ30N go get recall date and equipment list

You can also setup batch job that reads 'recall' date and flag equipment user status as 'Recall' to get better visibility and little bit of automation

Option 2: Create maintenance plan for equipment with 'offset' to match 'recall' date. Schedule maintenance plan. This will create PM order at time of ‘Recall’ à This order can be your prompt to send equipment back.

If you are not maintenance business, option 1 will work just fine.

Hope this helps-

Thanks Rajen,

Is the equipment master necessary? We have created all the serial numbers without activating the equipment and serial number history shows the status for all our materials.

Do we have any other option without activating the  equipment?

Hi Subramanian:

I don't think so.. as you have equipment records (Material + serial number), you don't need to create additioanl equipment views. You should be able to add class 002 for serial numbers.

Please try creating class (002) and characteristics via CL02/CT04 and assign to equipment via IE02. You will be able to search equipment with classification values in tcode IQ09.

Hope this helps-
