Free characteristics - Web Template

I created a web template based on a query and I am not able to see the free characteristics in the web . what could be the reason?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

    hi Amanda,

    have you put web item 'Generic Navigation Block' in your web template ?

    Free charecteristics will not come automatically into the web template unless you use the generic navigation web item and set the same query as dataprovider for it.

      Hi,

      1) you have include a Generic Navigation Block in to Web template

      2) Select the query/Data provider for the above GNB

      3) in the properties :

      a)Make sure that there is no tick mark for 'Hide object' acheck box

      b)select the list of characterstics (these will be the free characterstics)

      c)select the 'Affected data provider'.
