Logon not possible (error in license check)

Hi all,

I am performing EHP upgrade on test system (using temp license), and on the execution roadmap, encountered error below during phase MAIN_TRANSEXEC/STARTSAP_TRPREACT:

RFC_LOGON_FAILURE: Logon not possible (error in license check)<br/> System start failed

- tried  Old Licenses > Edit > Temporary License > stated that Temporary license sucessfully installed, but no license is really being installed.

- tried the same for New Licenses >

There is no permanent license key for "NetWeaver_ORA" in the system and there has never been a successful check on a permanent license key for "NetWeaver_ORA", or the last successful check is too long ago.

The temporary license key for "NetWeaver_ORA" could not be installed.

Checked table MLICHECK, can see that the entries of the temp license is there, but why is it not reflected in SLICENSE?

Hi all,

System was installed last week, and by right, it should not have expired now.
I'm not sure why during the EHP ugrade, it is missing from the SLICENSE, but from the table MLICHECK, we can definitely see the TEMPLICENSE entry.

Has the shadow system being created?

Are you check the shadow system or the actual system.

Can you try to do the kernel upgrade to the latest release and see if it fixes the issue.

What is the kernel version you are at.

Shadow system is not created, as I'm using the 'Single System' mode. Kernel is already upgraded to 740.

What is the release of the source system.

EHP7 and NW 7.4 is the only system that supports kernel 740 . Have you updated the lower release to 740 kernel.

Kernel upgrade was performed by SUM.
Previously, it was 7.21 EXT.

Can you please tell me the source and the target release. Is the system upgrade to final release(what patch level you see in the system)?

What is the kernel patch level . try to upgrade the kernel to the latest patch.

It's from SAP ERP 6.0, EHP6, NW 7.0 EHP 3 to EHP7, NW 7.4.
Additional add-on ERP FIN ACCOUNTING & OPS 1.0

From the system status I'm still seeing it as EHP6 (based on SAP_APPL component)

Current kernel release 740 patch number 46.
This is automatically downloaded based on the calculation in SOLMAN.

Hi,

Few thing that i have not seen the sum tool where it will not create the shadow instance.(As you said single instance)

Second thing if you are using the way you are saying it can be the reason that why kernel 740 is replace.

Third thing yes i know that kernel 740 will get installed on in EHP7 and NW 7.4 system but never seen that sum tool will replace 721 kernel with 740 on EHp6 env . Kernel 740 is not supported on ehp6 env and that can be the cause of the issue.

login client 000 with sap*

go to tcode slicense after generate license key from service marketplace and apply it

then restart system. Issue will be solve.

Hi,

So do you have a temporary license and valid maintenance cert in your system because like if you use SPAM to apply it check for valid maintenance certs  and if you done have it it will not allow you to apply patch.

Same is the case with SUM tools.

did you select any addon while generating the stack file that changes the license condition.

What is source and target release of the upgrade.

I could only say that please check SMP and apply license and request using valid component.

It's strange to upgrade a system with a temporary license. Getting a new license from SAP is a quick process, it should have been done prior to upgrade.

As you are performing an Ehp installation you are on an ECC6 system where the "old license" is useless. You should

- request a new license

- delete all existing licenses

- install new license

If it is not possible to request a new license try with command line tool saplikey

Find existing license(s)

saplikey pf=/usr/sap/<SID>/sys/profile/<SID>_DVEBMGS00_<hostname> -show

Delete all existing license(s)

saplikey pf=/usr/sap/<SID>/sys/profile/<SID>_DVEBMGS00_<hostname> -delete <SID> <HW Key> <product>

[...]

Create temporary license

saplikey pf=/usr/sap/<SID>/sys/profile/<SID>_DVEBMGS00_<hostname> -temp NetWeaver_ORA

Thanks. The reason why I'm installing and upgrading with a temp license is because it's for demo and testing purpose.

I've attempted using saplikey command in OS, however, I observed the same error:
