R3load and the oracle listener

Dear experts, I've got a very short question:

When performing and R3load based OS/DB migration, there is a recommendation to shutdown all the interfaces,

that might write to the DB directly. We've been discussing, whether this can be done by just stopping the oracle

listener... So, the question is - does R3load need the oracle listener to be running, in order to export the DB, or

we could stop the listener before exporting ?

Thank you!

Hello

I believe the SAP system will be the only thing connected to the database.

For sure SAP should be stopped before the export leaving the DB open and if SAP is stopped then there is nothing to worry about.

Imagine that you have a distributed setup DB with on one server and CI on another. So listener is important.

I have never stopped listener and I am quite sure that Oracle listener should be running.

Hi Symon ,

Once application is completely stopped, there is nothing to worry about write operation in DB even if listener is active .
