I am having difficulty with several tasks which involve generation and viewing of documents. I receive the same error message when I attempt to:
1. Generate an SDS from a template.
2. Upload an SDS.
3. View a previously uploaded SDS.
Each time I receive the error: Could not upload file to front end.
I have access to 2 versions of the SAP EHS work environment. These tasks work fine in one but not the other, which makes me wonder, of course, what is different?
I am running the 7.3 GUI through a VPN connection remotely.
Any help would be appreciated!! I'm starting to pull my hair out over here and it's not pretty!
Thanks to all who offered solutions to this new SAP user. It turned out to be a difference in settings between the Quality and Production environments and was corrected this past Friday. I'm looking forward to this week and really being able to make strides in learning the system's capabilities!

Hi Susan,
You are receiving error message C$556 (Could not load file to front end)??
If yes , please check which data carrier is entered for the document types. You
do this in the IMG activity 'Assign EH&S Document Types to DMS Document
Types':
Environment, Health and Safety
-> Basic Data and Tools
-> Report Definition
-> Assign EH&S Document Types to DMS Document Types
Please compare both systems and check if same customizing is maintained.
Generally such issue is linked to the Data Carrier maintained.
Hope it helps !
Kind regards,
Raphael

Hi !
Have you installed SAP EHS WWI- Front End component along with SAP GUI 7.3 ?
If not install the EHS – WWI Front End Component using the SAP GUI setup file.
But if you had already installed WWI Front End component and facing this error, “C$ 556: Could not load file to front end”, you need to check a couple of things,
1. Check the compatibility of your MS Word with SAP GUI EHS Front end component. Refer the note 568302 to know the SAP GUI compatibility for Word version.
or
2. Reinstall the Front-end component.
or
3. Try the option mentioned in Mr.Balaji’s reply.
