Career guidance for a fresher

Hello everyone,

I have just passed out of my engineering college (March '13) in computer Science and I'm exploring SAP as a career option.I have been searching over the net to find resources for a fresher but have not been successful. Hence i need guidance towards exploring this field and to evaluate if I'm fit for it.

Also what would be the right way in getting started with SAP?should I start working as a trainee in some company or are there any definite pathway that would be best for me considering the fact that i have zero industry experience.

    Hello Mr. Rahil,

Yes, you are correct, at fresher level getting entry in SAP field is bit difficult but not impossible.

** So you are from CS, then you must having some idea of Programing, right.? So i will suggest you to learn UI5(which is related to java script and HTML5) or ABAP.

So learn ABAP or UI5 anything and try for any organization , no matter, whether its a small company or MNC, just join any company and get some experience.

    Hello Rahil,

    I completely agree with sudhir.

As you are from Computer Science background in Engineering. ABAP Module will be Easy for you.
But, It also depends on the factor, whether you like programming.

I will try give you some Possible ways to start your career as a SAP Consultant.

    * If you enter into some IT service company and if SAP Technology is there. You can prefer your option to get into SAP practice in that company and later on you can opt for SAP Certification exam.

    * Otherwise get train in SAP from SAP Authorised Education Partner and complete your SAP Certification.
SAP Certified consultants have more market.

    Just search the Below Link,

    http://scn.sap.com/community/training-and-education/certification

Here you can find all the course details which is offered by SAP.

Do a research on Course details and select a course to study which you feel that you can learn and contribute in that SAP Module.

Let me know if you need more guidance on this.

    All the Best..!!

    • Hello Rahil,

We cant able to say that some particular module have more market than other (It Varies time to time).
But Whichever module (or of course SAP Product) you learned.. You are not going to work on the same module all over your lifetime.

So, When you really want to be an SAP Consultant..,
Get Certified from any SAP Authorized Educational Partner and then move into a organization.

      Or

As you said that, one of your friend is arranging a job for you as a SAP Trainee.. Go for it...
Once you started learning SAP.. you will come to know things.. and you can be able to analyze on your own to study the suitable module.....

      All the Best..!!

Since you are from computer science backgroud, i would recommend you to learn ABAP Module in SAP.

Later you can find a job in this feild, initailly salary will be less, later on, you will get good salary.

No problem with Zero industry experience.

    All the best

    Thanks

A friend of mine has arranged for me an interview for 6months job as a SAP trainee at a reputed Co.

      1. Will this be an ideal way to kick start my career in SAP ?

      2. Any comments on the duration of the training?

      3. What aspects should i look into before going for the interview?

      4. What qualities do i need to highlight to impress the interviewee?
