please give some practical feature & function of material type IBAU.

extending other replies, IBAU material type can be created for...

1.  In-house fabricated material/assemblies e.g. gear box/structure etc (not to be procured/ordered)...

2.  to capture the BOM/component i.e. bearings/oil seal etc which may be of IBAU or ERSA type.

3.  any dummy material (IBAU) can be created to assign the materials of general consumption type( not relevant to Equipment/eqp BOM) as a BOM to this dummy material .

Hi,

IBAU is a material type which physically don't exist, but it is assembly of materials which represents the hierarchical structure of the object. BOM shall be created for IBAU type,  which consist of BOM items as materials (Can be other material type which may be non stock / stock) & or documents which forms the hierarchical structure.

IBAU type material BOM itself may contain further IBAU type sub materials also.

In this way we shall use IBAU to represent complex object structures.

IBAUs are not real materials and cannot be ordered/purchased.

They are most often used for structuring BOMs, for example:

Motor BOM (IBAU or Material BOM)

- Stator Parts (IBAU Sum BOM)

-- Part 1

-- Part 2

-- Part 3

- Rotor Parts (IBAU sub-BOM)

-- Part A

-- Part B

-- Part C

They are also sometimes used in the Assembly field on the order/notification header.

IBAU - Maintenance assembly

Maintenance assembly is not an individual object, but a set of logical elements to separate technical object into clearly defined units for plant maintenance.

For example, a car can be a technical object - the engines, axles, transmission etc are the maintenance assemblies.

this material type IBAU is used for Maintenance assemblies, you can say like a Material BOM etc.
