Multiple del. types for same plant in "Assign delivery type and checking rule"?

Hi experts,

Can anyone tell me about the SAP logic behind not allowing assignment of many delivery types and checking rules to the same document type and supplying plant combination?

If I for exampe go to the IMG for purchasing under: "Purchase Order --> Set Up Stock Transport Order --> Assign Delivery Type and Checking Rule" and make a similar entry as shown below, I will get the error message: "Target key must be different from source key".

Is there a standard SAP way to overcome this rule?

Hi,

   As of my knowledge, you can assign only one delivery type against one document type and supplying plant combination.

   May I know the business requirement behind multiple delivery type against same document type. In this case, how the system to pick the delivery type.

Hi Chris,

This is the standard validation , where you cannot have different delivery types for same document type, supplying plant and checking rule.

Each PO document type has its own identity against STO.

Ex:

1)Intra STO UB document type is used with delievry type NL

2)Inter STO NB document type is used with delivery type NLCC

You can not prevent error with different delivery type , so it is not key field.

Yes there is a standard way if you use activate stock transfer for storage locations.

Then you will have an additional control at the sloc level for the same settings you now have for plants.

According to my understanding, the "stock transfer between storage locations" functionality only works properly with STO's within the same plant. Our need is to have STO's between different plants/storage locations in different plants.

This error can be describe with key fields duplication.

Please look at :

1- SE11 tcode , table VV_161V_VF

2- MANDT,BSTYP,ESART,RESWK fields are key. You can not duplicate key fields combination.

3- It is standart table , you can not change unique field.

I have used this setting to select different customer numbers and shipping points in plant to plant STOs scenario. If you have a entry for the specified issuing location, sloc entry is given precedence, else plant level entry get precedence.

I think the delivery type config should behave similarly.

Could you try in a test environment?
