Upgrade SAP WAS 6.20 to 6.40

Due to OS limitations of Standalone ITS 6.20 (only WGate on Solaris) we decided to upgrade our WAS 6.20 to WAS 6.40 with Integrated ITS.

The best Note I found is 664679 (Installing 6.40 kernel in SAP WEB AS 6.10/6.20).

But the problem is that I cannot find any apropriate download material like patch. Could you help me?

So we need working ITS on CRM on Solaris OS.

What should we do?

Hi,

The first release of SAP NetWeaver AS(formerly SAP Web AS) to support the integrated ITS is the SAP NetWeaver '04 6.40 release. There is currently no release of mySAP CRM that runs on SAP NetWeaver AS 6.40. The next release of mySAP CRM is mySAP CRM 2005 which is released into Ramp-up next week. This is based on SAP NetWeaver 2004s.

It is not supported to use a standalone SAP NetWeaver AS with an integrated ITS (instead of the standalone ITS) and connect it between the user and the mySAP CRM system. The integrated ITS is only available to applications that are running directly on the same SAP NetWeaver AS.

In short, the first version of mySAP CRM to support the integrated ITS is mySAP CRM 2005. The services are all migrated to the integrated ITS with this release.

I hope this helps,

Mike.

Hi, Mike

On the one hand, your full answer was great and very helpfull! Thank's a lot!

But on the other hand, my task is not solved yet

How do you think - is it possible to use standalone ITS 6.20 on some other server (not Solaris, with Apache for example) and connect it between the SAP EP and the mySAP CRM system? Maybe there is some notes on this subject?

Or maybe there is a better solution?

Thank you once again!

Alexander

Don't have an anwer for you, but a more general question.

Does having kernel 640_REL (patch 80) have any impact on SAP_BASIS 620 (Level 51) in the same instance? Apparently, the box can be on a higher kernel level than its components, but I'm not sure why...
