MDG Cost Center - Create Request

Dear experts,

I just enabled the MDG data model 0G in order to use the out of the box solution for Cost Center.

In my Single processing request for Cost Center I don't see some of the essential fields that we maintain for this entity.

Please advise on the approach I should take in order to have those fields also available.

Here is my ECC cost center create screen that has the fields like Valid From and To dates, Hierarchy area, Costing sheet, etc.

The MDG Create request looks a bit different and is missing these fields.

As you can see, those fields are not in the model.

What I can do is enhance the 0G data model and add those fields to it, but I read somewhere that they exist in the model, they are just maintained differently.

Please let me know if you know how to approach the issue.

Thanks in advance,

Boris

Hi Boris,

Currently, the cost centre validity period is detemined according to the edition validity period and the field hierarchy area is the standard hierarchy maintained in your controlling area. These entities are picked by default. Hence these are not visible in the MDG create request UI. After you replicate the data you can check the same in the target system.

you can enhance the data model accordingly.

TA: MDGIMG-> Data Modelling ->Edit Data Model.-->Select data model 0G -->Click on Entity types-->

Select  CCTR--> and click on Attribute.

Hope this will be helpful.

Hi Boris, Reema,

Reema's reply is correct. The fields are not part of the cost center data since they are maintained in a different way.

Cost Centers, Profit Centers and Cost Elements use the same validity period of the edition they are created in. If you need a single cost center in different time slices, you have to use separate editions.

Furthermore MDG separates the single object maintenance and the hierarchy maintenance from each other. You could create the cost centers, cost center groups and the cost center hierarchy node(s) first in single object maintenance. Afterwards you use collective processing respectively the hierarchy maintenance to build up your cost center hierarchy (or hierarchies since MDG supports alternative hierarchies as well).

Regarding the replication of the data into the ECC system, it's up to you. You may either user the change request based replication of an immediate replication once the change request is approved, or you can decide to replicate the full edition at once (note that this requires the edition to be released - meaning that further changes to the objects need a new edition).

It is NOT recommended to change this behavior of data model 0G!

Best regards

Michael

To add to it, make sure that you create -

1. Blank Change request - CR type must contain CCTRH / CCTRG and CCTR entity types.

2. Use collective processing - create CC and assign under group and get all of then in the blank CR you have created

3. If you are using IDOC then whatever data you are creating in MDG will get replicated in ECC. Make sure you have exact hierarchy or data will get deleted from ECC

4. If you are using SOA - which is recommended by SAP then also you have to make sure that your ECC hierarchy is exactly same as your MDG hierarchy.

Thanks

Hello Boris

The validity dates can be maintained using edition. You can create as many as editions in MDG for your cost center.

For hierarchy area - This field is not part of standard data model. But no need to add it. What you can do is use Collective processing option in MDG. Select Cost center group - here you get the entire hierarchy display. In the same screen you can create a cost center and assign it under the particular group. With this assignment, MDG will pick up the group for the CC or PC and the same will be replicated in ECC.

Collective processing is part of standard role - you can view it under Change request.
