Local member affecting the drill down.

Dear Friends,

I am designing dynamic a report in BPC 10 NW. In this report I am using few local member. But the position of these local member affect the drill down. I am using choice of ‘Insert local member after __ row/position’.

For example, I am creating local member ‘GROSS REVENUE’ and this local member user formula ‘Revenue by sales’ + ‘Revenue by other sources’ and I have inserted local member (GROSS REVENUE) in ROW after 2 rows. Now when the client do a drill down in ‘Revenue by other sources’
the whole report gets disturbed as the local formula still remain in third row. Client is not interested in using dimension formula.

How can I have local member move with the drill down.

Thanks,

Nisha

    Hi,

    Try as follows:

** if you have only Revenue by sales,Revenue by other sources & Gross Revenue (Local member ) in a row axis

then local member insert after attached to Row axis. By using this option your local member will be always at end of the row axis even if you drill down.

**If you have more accounts apart from above 2 and local member then create one more report for rest of the accounts

-->Create default report with 2 accounts (Revenue by sales & Revenue by other sources) in rows and create a local member Gross revenue (attached to Row axis)

-->Create a new report sharing column axis with default report and add rest of the accounts.

Using this method default report will get expanded with new report accounts after local member of default report.

    Hope it helps...

    regards,

    Raju

    Hi Nisha,

it wouldnt be possible by local member, because your row is dynamic due to dril down. Everytime, user will dril down, your report will be disturbed, as you local member formula will keep coming at the position that you have defined.

Thus, You can do this by using dimensino member formulla. Create a dummy member for Gross Revenue, assign the dimension member formula to it. and incluce this member in your report. use will keep doing drill down, but your report will not get disturbed.

    Try it, hope it helps.

    Hi Nisha

You may try following actions to keep formula on Local member attached

    • Deselect the Keep Formula on Data option Under Sheet Option > Refresh Tab
    • Activate Local Member Recognition option in the Sheet Options:
    • After activating Insert a row where you want to maintain the formula
    • Put formula in cell; the formula is automatically converted into a local member using a specific keyword the local member is automatically attached to a specific item.
    • When a local member references the current report and another cell outside of the report, the member is automatically detected as an EPMPOSITION type of local member.

    Hi Nisha,

This is what you need to do -

    - Activate 'Local Member Recoginition' as well as 'Use Position in Axis' in Sheet Options

    - Create Report with ‘Revenue by sales’ and ‘Revenue by other sources’ in your rows with member selection as 'Member only'. Assume these are in cells A3 and A4 and you have data in B3 and B4

    - in B5, write =Sum(B3:B4) - This will automatically create a local member

    - go to Report Editor - Local Member tab

    - In the Formula, you will see use of EPMPOSITION, rewrite the formula as below -

    =EPMMEMBER([ACCOUNT].[H1].[REVENUEBYSALES])+EPMMEMBER([ACCOUNT].[H1].[REVENUEBYOTHERSOURCES])

where in above, you need to replace ACCOUNT by the actual account dimension name and REVENUEBYSALES and REVENUEBYOTHERSOURCES by corr. dimension members. Assuming the hierarchy is H1 only..remember it should be all caps

    - Use insert after Row Axis

That's it. Click Ok. Now, even if the users drill down the local member would always be placed in the end after the row axis.

    Hope it helps!!
