Wile trying to install Solution Manager 7.1 on my server, the installation gets through to the Start Instance step, and cannot seem to restart the instance after shutting it down. I'm not sure what is going on here, and have no clue what the log means (attached). the sql db is on another server and is listining on the correct ports etc. it does not seem to be a firewall issue.

Does anyone have any idea on the error? and a solution?

Regards

Simon

Hi Simon,

Can you please stop your firewall service and do a retry.

Hey Simon

The state YELLOW at disp+work in Solution Manager environment shows, that the ABAP stack of it is not fully up yet. But remember, that there is an Java stack, too. As long as the AS Java is not up and running, you will not see any GREEN there.

Therefore, you should check the following:

(1) Open a CMD as user <SID>adm and run "R3trans.exe -x"

      > You'll need a result of 0000 in order to check, that your MSSQL db is up and fine

(2) Open a CMD as use <SID>adm and goto directory \usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS*\j2ee\configtool

     > open configtool.bat and use default configuration. If this works all fine, your AS Java is ready to be launched, too.

(3) As <SID>adm in CMD, start "jcmon pf=<path_to_profile>\<SID>_DVEB*" and choose "20 - Local Administration Menu".

    > Check for the state of dispatcher, server0 and SDM. The one failing, check for the logs in the work-directory (mentioned by Rishi

Hope, I could help you debug this.

It seems that your installation media might be corrupt try downloading it again and use the proper admin user while installing.

Hi,

If you see the screen shot that the disp+work and dispatcher were in yellow in standstill state.

So first can you please post the dev_w0 and dev_disp and dev_ms to check that why did the system dint come up from /usr/sap/SID/DV*/work.

Hope you have tried R3trans-d with sidadm and it should be 000 if there is no issue with the connectivity with the database.

Thanks

Hi Simon,

have a look in the usr\sap\HS1\DVEBMGS00\work directory. There you will find further logs. Check the ones that were last modified and post any errors that you find in them here as well.

Is there anything else that is special about your installation - apart from the DB being on a different server? Have you done anything in the setup that might be different to a normal installation?

Manon
